
Matthew began singing in his junior years with the Victorian State Children’s Choir, reaching the premier Chamber Choir. He performed at The Melbourne Cup, Australian Tennis Open, and Boxing Day Test Cricket ceremonies. Matthew also has a strong music background successfully completing his Grade five Clarinet, and Grade four Music Theory examinations with the Australian Music Examination Board (AMEB), and most recently his Grade two Piano with the Australian and New Zealand Cultural Arts (ANZCA) board of examinations.
Matthew has performed in the lead role of Luther Billis in South Pacific with Panorama Youth Theatre Company where he won two nominations in the Victorian Music Theatre Guild Awards for ‘Best Male Junior Performer of the Year’ and the Gladys Moncrieff Award for ‘Most Outstanding New Talent of the Year’. He has also played Albert in Bye Bye Birdie, The Scarecrow in The Wiz, The Cat in the Hat in Seussical the Musical, and this year playing the role of Monsieur D’Arque in Beauty and the Beast.
Matthew is very passionate about drama and spends his spare time coaching Year 12 students at local schools for their VCE Drama Solo and Ensemble performances. In the past two years he has also taken on the role of lighting designer and operator for a local High school and Primary school in their Rock Eisteddfod Challenge Competition.
Matthew currently studies Music Industry Technical Production (Diploma) at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. He also works at the Frankston Arts Centre as a Theatre Usher. |
