Michael Laity (on leave)

Michael Laity HeadshotMichael made his first stage appearance back in 1995 as the role of Fizzy in the stage adaptation of his favourite childhood film Bugsy Malone. Since then Michael has gone on to perform with several theatre companies taking on such lead roles as Riff in West Side Story, Ko-Ko in Hot Mikado, Nathan Detroit in Guys and Dolls and the demanding title role in Pippin. Michael has also played William Archer in Louis Nowra’s Classic Australian play The Golden Play and he recently also created the role of Kelly in the World Premiere Recording of the new Australian musical Café Latte. Professionally Michael has played the role of Benjamin Bunny in Garry Ginivan’s successful children's theatre production of ‘The Tales of Peter Rabbit’ which went on to tour across Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth throughout 2003, then again in 2006. He's also played several pantomime roles in professional productions for children at shopping centres and major venues throughout Victoria, as well as over a year of party performing at private functions.

In addition to his theatrical experience, Michael has studied full time at the William Bates Academy of Performing Arts majoring in Weaponry Studies and Choreography, Dance (Jazz & Ballet) and of course Acting (Accents, Scripts & Character). Since then he has taught fencing to many children and directed a children's play of "Popeye" for The Fun Company.

Not only has Michael performed for children in many of his shows, but has also played a leadership role in his shows with Panorama Youth Theatre. This youth theatre group provides opportunities for young actors, dancers and singers to perform musicals with other young performers in the Peninsula area and Michael has not only performed there, but has also been a mentor for many young performers starting out on their own performing career.

A fabulous character actor with a flair for performing for children, Michael is a huge success at all of his parties with Tony Bones Entertainment.
