Rachel Smoker hails from the opposite side from the world from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. From an early age, she has been on the professional stage and taking performance related courses. For about 12 years, she was a chorus member/dancer in First Baptist of Fort Lauderdale's internationally televised Christmas Pageant, which would run about 22 performances throughout the holiday season.
Her first big role was part of the King's Theatre production of Wizard of Oz as the Wicked Witch of the West. In high school she performed in No No Nannette, Me and My Girl, and Hello Dolly! as the outrageous character of Ernestina. During that time, she also would worked in children's nurseries, teaching the kids games and songs and telling stories. In 2002, she travelled to Russia to teach English to at Russian Conversational English Camp.
Once she finished high school with a focus in chorus and drama, she decided to continue her passion for the arts at Florida State University's School of theatre. There she both performed, and directed many different shows including Machinal, A Gift of Peace, and Rabbithole. She also was part of an improve/sketch group called Slow Children Playing which would write original pieces and sketches on whatever was a hot topic of the time of the show. In addition to studying theatre, Rachel decided to take on a second major and study writing. In 2008, she graduated with a degree in Theatre and Creative Writing. After graduation she moved to London where she interned at award winning producer, Steven Evans, Britannia Film and TV and worked as a PA in talent agency Londinium Media Management.
Rachel is excited to have now moved to Australia and be a part of Tony Bones Entertainment and again work with children of all ages!
