Answers to Common Questions - Why Tony Bones Entertainment?
- "What makes a Tony Bones Entertainment party so different?" The difference with our shows and party characters is how they are created. Tony Bones Entertainment is a theatre company. That means Tony Appleby B.Ed, a qualified teacher and children's entertainer writes and directs every show that the company performs. Each show is character driven with specific original songs, dances, games and storylines based on that character. We don't do the same script in a different costume regardless of which character a client books. Each show is specific to that particular character, developed, rehearsed and re-rehearsed constantly with performers based on performers' experiences and customer feedback. We value your opinion and take heed of it within our shows. Our extremely strong and very popular show structure has been developed over many years of performing, writing and directing experience. As in a classroom, each show must be planned thoroughly to get the best result on the day. These specific areas of expertiese are exclusive to Tony Bones Entertainment because we pride ourselves on being a theatre company, not an agency.
- "Why use a theatre company instead of an agency? Are there problems with using an agency?" There are several problematic issues with booking a character for a children's party through an agency. Agencies may have hundreds of actors on their "books". Often agencies don't even know the specific actor that they will book in for a show or party, often hiring them over the phone or via another agency. There are often no security or reference checks done on an agency's performers so both the client and the agent may have no idea just who it is that is performing. The agency also usually has no idea of specifics of a particular actor's show. The actor can often simply be given a paragraph describing their character's name and told to "make something up" once they arrive at the party. This "hit and miss" style of improvised performing depends solely on the performer being a master at this skill, and usually results in a lot of "game playing" and very little engaging story-telling, relevent songs or activities ever taking place in the party. So an agency can actually make money from clients by sending an un-scripted show and un-rehearsed performer into a children's party. Herein lies the problem of booking something as important as your own child's party through an agency who is simply "the middle man".

Our performers and rehearsals: (click on  on the top menu). We are the only company who list every one of our performers on our website. This is because we actually know every one of our performers personally. Each performer has all their references and qualifications thoroughly checked, then they rehearse with us at our studio on a regular basis. We get to know each of our performers extremely well when they join the Tony Bones Entertainment team. As a client you can request particular performers you've booked or seen before, or book a new performer to keep the variety alive. Each performer has up to date listings on their website entry explaining which shows and characters they are trained and specialise in, along with their biography and headshot. This attention to detail is unique to Tony Bones Entertainment.

This means no matter which performer a client has at their party, they are guaranteed of getting almost exactly the same show others are raving about. Every performer has been extensively rehearsed by Tony so that they are performing the show correctly and in a similar manner to the other performers. This attention to detail is unique to Tony Bones Entertainment.
We are a full time theatre company: One of the most common concerns we hear from clients is "I've called 10 companies and you're the first to answer your phone", or "I've left messages with 3 other companies and you're the only one who has bothered to call back". We have our office staff in the office every day of the week between 9 and 5, then divert the phone to our mobile service after hours. If we don't get your call, we'll nearly always be able to return your message within an hour. We don't leave you hanging. We'll then call you personally to discuss your requirements, email you a full quote if desired, let you know available performers, tell you the final price for your party (no hidden costs), guarantee you a performer when you book, then give you a reminder call a week before the party to go over all the details again. Who else gives you that kind of service? This attention to detail is unique to Tony Bones Entertainment.
- "I've found slightly cheaper options are available. How do I justify spending a little more on a Tony Bones Entertainment party? Aren't all children's party characters the same?" Not at all. There is a big difference between the major players in children's theatre, the biggest difference being attention to detail. Tony Bones Entertainment use arguably the best musical director in the country, Tim Smith to create the music with Tony for all our shows. We don't simply put on the "Top 40 Hits of Summer" CD and hope for the best. Instead we create original Australian music perfectly suited to each character and show. Our performers are the cream of the crop that Australia has to offer. A team of qualified teachers, performers, directors, script writers and musicians put together each party from scratch to ensure the greatest result every time. Why take the risk of a disaster when you have the tried and tested services of a reputable company with guarantees in place? If the information above doesn't convince you that Tony Bones Entertainment are worth more than the others, just ask another reputable group like Australia's "National Trust". Tony Bones Entertainment have been "Artists In Residence" for the school holiday children's theatre program with The National Trust's "Rippon Lea Estate" in Elsternwick for many years. They put their reputation behind us and trust us implicitly and so can you!!! We are also now artists in residence at The National Trust's "Como House" in South Yarra, and perform regularly at Upwey's "Burrinja Gallery" and for "Quality Recreational Services" school holiday programs also. Our Party Structure
Every "Solo Children's Party" includes:
- 1 x Performer in full costume

- Colouring sheet & pencils for each child

each child (male characters)

Our Party Pricing
Individual
Party Character:
- The basic
fee for an individual party character is $165*(incl. GST) for one hour for up
to 10 children. (*Exception Witch
Character = $225 (incl. GST) for
one and a half hour show including birthday cake)
- Any extra children are charged at just $5.00 per
child.
- Any extra time requested is charged at just $55 per
half hour.
- Added to the price is a small travel fee to cover the performer for travel from our office in Hughesdale to your party then back again. The travel fee is purely to cover petrol costs, car maintenance and the time it takes the performer to get to and from your party. The amount of this travel fee varies depending on how far the actor has to travel and is included in any email or phone quote issued by Tony Bones Entertainment.
- Large Group
Pricing (40 or more children) - As above but price then drops to $3.00 per child for extra children thereafter.
Two Party Characters:
- The basic
fee for a two character party is $360* (incl. GST) for one hour for up
to 20 children (*Exception -
Witch & Wizard Show = $480 (incl.
GST) for one and a half hour show including birthday
cake)
- Any extra children beyond the original 20
are charged at just $5.00 per child.
- Any extra time requested is charged at just $55 per
half hour per character ($110 per half hour for both characters).
- This price includes balloon animals and face
painting for each child for up to 10 children OR either a
balloon animal or face painting for up to
20 children. If balloon animals and face
painting are desired for groups over 10 children, they are
charged at an extra $3.00 per child on top of the show
fee.
- Added to the price is a small travel fee to cover each performer
for travel from our office in Hughesdale to your party then back again. The travel fee is purely to cover petrol costs, car maintenance and the time it takes the performers each to get to and from your party. The amount of this travel fee
varies depending on how far each actor has to travel and is included
in any email or phone quote issued by Tony Bones Entertainment.
- Large Group
Pricing (60 or more children) - As above but price then drops to $3.00 per child for extra children thereafter.

TONY BONES ENTERTAINMENT TERMS & CONDITIONS FOR CLIENTS
Payment & Cancellation Fees
- a. Full payment is required on the day of the performance as a cash payment to the performer. Tony Bones Entertainment apologises but we do not accept cheques or credit cards.
- b. The performer must be paid in full by the end of their show, thus before they leave the event.
- c. Performers are unable to negotiate lowering a price. Any issues with price should be directed to Tony on 1300 308 311 before a performer leaves an event.
- d. Cancellation Fees - No deposit is necessary. However once a client has "booked in" a time for a party, that time is set aside for your party exclusively, meaning that Tony Bones Entertainment will turn away other work wanting the same date and time. For this reason clients do need to be aware that there is a cancellation fee of $100 if the booking is cancelled at any time after it is booked in with Tony Bones Entertainment. Furthermore, if the booking is cancelled within 7 days of the event, the cancellation fee rises to the total amount quoted for the booking. A party is only deemed to be booked in when Tony Bones Entertainment staff have spoken to the client and officially "booked in" the performance, or when the client has specifically asked TBE to "book in" the party via email.
